Toje

BRANDING, PACKAGE DESIGN

Toje derives from a dialect word meaning "rootstock" or "vine trunk," originating from a small village in the Mosel Valley of Germany, where winemaker Johannes Scheid was born and raised. Reimagined for this project, the term reflects the story of two people from different countries and cultures coming together to plant new roots in Sonoma County.

The label design, clean and contemporary, features a wordmark crafted from custom letterforms inspired by the winemaker’s German heritage. A debossed textual border shares the couple's story in both of their native languages. A custom secondary seal, depicting grafted rootstock intertwined into the shape of a ‘T’, reinforces the brand's narrative of connection and growth.
