Gatto Design and Our It Club History: In 1939, Tim’s grandparents, Walter & Eda Gatto, founded The “It” Club in El Cerrito, CA. For nearly 40 years, The “It” Club was home to burlesque, comedy and music acts including Redd Foxx, Sally Rand, The Vagabonds, Johnny Mathis, Johnny Cash, and the Smothers Brothers. This bit of family history — the husband and wife team and the unique tie to the liquor business — gave us tons of inspiration as we created our visual identity and our very own Gatto brand to life. We have always wanted to resurrect some of these graphics, and we thought what better time to raise money for bartenders lost wages.
