Cline Ancient Vines

As passionate land stewards and preservationists, the Cline family has played a vital role in safeguarding California’s agricultural heritage amid increasing pressures of urban development. The redesign sought to better reflect the rich history of the family and the storied origins of their 100-year-old vines, replacing a more corporate aesthetic with a design steeped in authenticity.

The new package design features a silkscreened type lockup, inspired by the custom glass molds commonly used when the ancient vines were first planted. Released in celebration of Cline Cellars’ 40th anniversary, the design includes a commemorative band of type around the neck, honoring this milestone. A hidden QR code beneath the capsule offers drinkers a modern touch, leading to a video of Fred and Hilary Cline sharing the history of the family and the vineyard.
